Top 10 Best-Selling Vehicles in the USA in 2008List of Ten Most Sold Passenger Cars, Trucks, and Motor Brands in the USThe 2008 top ten lists of best-selling vehicles (passenger cars and light trucks) as well as best-selling motor brands in the USA show GM ahead of Toyota and Ford while the F-150 outsold the Chevrolet Silverado, Camry, Honda Accord, and Corolla.
Overall 2008 vehicle (passenger cars and light trucks) sales showed a decline of close to 20% on 2007 sales figures. However, even in a fast shrinking market, some cars and brands have to make it onto the top ten list of best-selling cars and trucks for 2008 in the USA. Best-selling motor manufacturers and brands in 2008 in the USA remained General Motors (GM), followed by Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, and Nissan. Biggest loser of the larger manufacturers was Chrysler, which saw a decline of 30% in vehicles sold in 2008 compared to 2007. GM saw a drop of almost 23%, Ford was down 20.5%, while even Toyota saw a drop of over 15% in sales during 2008. Isuzu was the only manufacturer to have recorded a sales increase (0.3%) while Kia cars and Mini (part of BMW) also saw brand increases. *Biggest surprise for a motor vehicle brand to have shown an increase in sales during 2008 must surely go to Rolls Royce (part of the BMW group), which sold 17.4% more cars in 2008 than in 2007. (However, sales dropped to 0 in December 2008!)
